Position: Social Worker Childrens Location:Durham County Council
About the Role:
As a Social Worker in our Children in Care Team, you will support children and young people aged 1 to 18 years old who are looked after by the local authority under Section 31 or Section 20 of the Children Act.
You will:
Manage a caseload of 20-25 children, ensuring each child receives individualised, high-quality support.
Develop and maintain strong, trusting relationships with young people, carers, and other professionals.
Undertake statutory visits, reviews, care planning, and pathway planning.
Be involved in life-story work, education and health support, and future planning to help young people thrive.
Work closely with a stable, experienced team that values reflection, supervision, and collaboration.
What We’re Looking For:
A qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
Experience of working with looked after children or within children’s social care.
Strong assessment, communication, and planning skills.
A commitment to putting the voice and needs of the child at the centre of practice.
Confidence in working within statutory frameworks and contributing to permanence planning.
